http://bit.ly/bCPP50 - check this out for some great ideas for honors classes. I struggle with ideas for gifted students and sometimes I think it is because I spend so much energy trying to "pull up" struggling students.
This is a common problem in most classes that practice inclusion. I see inclusion as a good thing and a bad thing. If we separated classes by skill level it would allow for better challenges and lessons geared to all students involved. But we lose the stimulation provided by a multiple learning environment. It is a problem we will all face.
I am currently enrolled in the alternative liscensure program at the University of Tennessee. I received my B.S. from U.T. in 1997. After spending 10 years working for a large company I changed careers and began teaching. The alternative liscensure program has made it possible for me to teach high school biology while I am taking the remainder of the necessary courses.
